Migrating mail into Zimbra

How to choose a way of moving mail into Zimbra, and what each one suits.

How you migrate depends on where the mail is now and how much of it there is. All the routes below end the same way, with your mail on the Zimbra server where every device can reach it.

From another mailbox you can still sign into

Let Zimbra collect it. This is the simplest route and needs nothing installed. See moving mail into Zimbra from another mailbox.

From Exchange

Start by asking us which tool suits your version of Exchange. See moving from Exchange to Zimbra, which also covers moving people in groups while both systems stay live.

From a server you administer

Imapsync copies mail between two IMAP servers and suits bulk moves where you have credentials for both sides.

One thing not to do

Do not drag mail from Outlook into Zimbra, and do not use Outlook's import tool. Both lose messages quietly. See why you should not drag and drop mail into Zimbra.
